There are moments in our lives where we catch a glimpse of what we’re capable of. A flicker of what we’re destined to be or a hint of what we desire to become.
It could be a burst of inspiration to invest in real estate or a yearning to finally take one of your old hobbies up again. These inner desires call to us all the time.
But before we answer, life gets in the way…
A surprise bill pops up.
Work drops a tight deadline on you.
Your kids need picked up from practice.
We delay our dreams one more day for the sake of putting out another fire. (Sound familiar?)
In today’s WREINvestor Insights, we’re talking about how to start living a life that’s important to our desires instead of responding to the everyday fight-or-flight.
What’s A Fight-Or-Flight Life?
A fight-or-flight life is one where you’re constantly reacting.
It’s juggling 47 tabs open in your mind, making decisions in survival mode, and convincing yourself it’s all okay.
It’s saying things like:
- “I’ll do that when I have more time.”
- “It won’t hurt to put it off till next week.”
The problem? “More time” rarely comes.
What An Important Life Looks Like
An important life means you’re intentional.
It means you make decisions based on your values, not your calendar. It means you take time for what matters, even if it doesn’t feel urgent.
For many women, real estate investing is one of the best ways to step into an important life because it offers control and freedom.
The Next 10 Years
Think about it… You’re going to spend the next 10 years doing something.
Too often that something is responding to fight-or-flight situations instead of pursuing what’s important to you.
Too often the need to make money (fight-or-flight) wins out over the desire to build something we’re proud of (important.)
Handling responsibilities is part of life but how long will you delay what’s important to you just so you can handle the next fight-or-flight situation in front of you?
Will you wait a year?
Five years?
Your whole life?
It’s dangerously easy to spend years shielding ourselves from the next fight-or-flight thing, and never setting aside time to do what we know we should.
Pick one thing that’s important to you, set a specific goal for yourself, and get started today.
Never leave your dreams unfulfilled.
